"New Study Demonstrates NanoScan`s Novel Contrast Agent May Identify Heart Attack in Waiting" company press release
N1177, a patented, emulsified suspension that is composed of crystalline iodinated particles dispersed with surfactant, selectively accumulates in macrophage cells via phagocytosis, allowing for their detection with standard computed tomography (CT) imaging equipment. N1177 is also unique in that it is water insoluble and primarily cleared through the liver, unlike traditional contrast agents that are primarily cleared through the kidneys, which can result in renal toxicity. Accordingly, N1177 represents a platform technology for imaging macrophage populations with broad clinical applications and new market opportunities.
